Oakley began her life in a slaughterhouse. When she was just a few weeks old, her mother was dragged away from her and butchered, leaving little Oakley alone, covered in filth, and without her mother's milk. Luckily someone stepped up and contacted us, and a rescue plan was put in place. When Oakley arrived at Angels Acres, she was barely hanging on. She received immediate veterinary care, to treat an infection and to help get her rumen working properly. Volunteers swooped in to help bathe her, and give her lots of cuddles and bottle feeds. We weren't sure she would make it through the first few nights, but she has gained her strength and is getting comfortable at the sanctuary. She is timid at first, but once you pick her up, she loves to be cuddled and held.
